Depends what you mean by “way of life”. Or, as it is sometimes put, “our culture”.
In general terms it is important to stress that right wing propaganda feeds on fear, and most of things they want you to be afraid of actually don’t exist. Their usual method is to invent a threat they say they will defend you from it.
They tell everyone say Christmas will be banned and we all have to say ”Happy Festival” instead. Not true. Not even remotely true. But it allows them to make immigrants seem like a threat to our way of life. Then they can get votes by stirring up division.
They say our ‘identity’ is under threat because radical people want to ‘rewrite history’. In fact it is the right wing extremists who are doing that. They are denying our identity as a united, multi-cultural country who have always had strong ties with other European countries and trying to sell the idea of a white, Ango-Saxon race managing all on its own with no need for friends because they are somehow superior and independent. They claim our statues are all under threat and to defend “our way of life” send thugs with swastika tattoos to defend a statue of Churchill, who spent most of his life fighting nazis and would have been horrified. They defended it by throwing bottles at the police and urinating on a local memorial.
They peddle conspiracy theories about an elite who are somehow controlling our lives and denying us our freedom, then offer to fight for those freedoms if you join their party. But the only threat to our tolerant, civilised culture is precisely their unfounded accusations. They mix up liberalism with marxism as if they were the same thing then claim anyone who disagrees with them is part of a liberal/marxist conspiracy to deny them the right wing coup they are looking for. No wonder they have swastika tattoos.
The very people offering to save us from all these threats are the people from whom we need to be saved. Do not be afraid – be sceptical.
